Which elastics do you need?

Elastic is picked for how it behaves inside the garment, not for how it feels in the hand. The two constructions do different jobs, and using the wrong one is the usual reason a waistband rolls over after a few wears.

Tell us the width in millimetres and what it is going into. If a waistband has been rolling, that usually means knitted was used where woven was needed.

Questions buyers ask about elastics

Should I use knitted or woven elastic?
Knitted for anything worn against the skin or in a light garment, because it stays soft. Woven for trouser waistbands and heavier garments, because it holds its width and resists rolling over. If a waistband keeps folding over on itself, knitted was probably used where woven was needed.
How much elastic do I need for a waistband?
That depends on the elastic and the finished measurement you want, and it is not a number worth guessing at. Tell us the garment, the finished waist and the width you want, and we will tell you what is normally used.
Why does elastic lose its stretch?
Usually heat. Hot water, a hot dryer or a hot iron over the waistband breaks the rubber down. Choosing a firmer woven elastic helps, but washing instructions matter more than the elastic does.
